Humbleness- humility can be defined as the state of not being proud, not showing to be important or pretending to be important. Humbleness is a virtue needed to excel in the kingdom race. There is no way a Christian can do without having this virtue Humbleness; humbleness is the root of self control!
The psalmist wrote “the Lord sustains the humble and casts the wicked to the ground”, Psalms 147:6. This shows to us that only those who are humble can stay in relationship with God Almighty. Another Bible passage talks about the important of humbleness is Mathew 23:12, “for those who exalt themselves will be humble and those who humble themselves will be exalted”. Humbleness is our responsibility towards God. It’s when we are able to humble ourselves that we can expect God to bless us, to give us Grace. It saddens my heart today that this important virtue is lost in this generation.
The Lord appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance of his tent in the heat of the day. Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby, when he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and BOWED low to the ground” Genesis 18:1-3. This Bible passage has gripped my heart for many times, I saw and understood what we call humbleness. Abraham showed to us the real humbleness but here we are in our generation, humbleness- humility has been lost. Abraham was a very old man as at this time in the previous chapter, it was said that Abraham was 99 years but imagine how a man of that age could go down and bowed for the people he never knew before.
I want to believe that those men weren’t up to 90 years, some Bible scholars called them angles while some said they were the Trinity, whichever, look at it, they came in form of human beings.
Humbleness has always been an important key to unlock the door of Heaven. My Co-labourers in the kingdom field how humble are you? Abraham was not just an old man but this was a man who later negotiated with God on behalf of Sodom and Gomorrah, but he could still humble himself to anyone. We all see that Abraham was one of the few in the Old Testament that enjoyed the Grace of God in their lives yet with that he never lost his virtue of Humbleness.
We know the Grace of God is upon your lives, whenever you open your mouth to sing the atmosphere is filled with Heavenly Joy but after that your head is raised up and you lost your humility, yes we can testify to the Grace of God in the knowledge and understanding of the word of God, you are a speaker that everyone wants to have in their meetings, we know how anointed you are when you pray but with all of these if you aren’t humble the kingdom of God is a NO for you.
I want to believe that most of us have not reached the stage one of what Abraham was then yet pride has taken over as if we were the ones that defeated Goliath. James 4:10, “Humble yourself before the Lord and He will lift you up”. If we can’t humble ourselves we can’t be partaker of the inheritance of the kingdom of God. Humbleness makes us to grow in Christ. Are you a minister of God but has lost this virtue please go back to God; retrace your steps before it is too late.
Prayer: God purge me; make me nothing in my sight that I might see you and not me.
