“The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; infact they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice”.
That night when the Lord spoke to me again about the Work of Ministry in Eruwa, I thought I struck a deal but I was just being silly.
I told God, “If I finish with a 1st class in Law School, then I will be sure that you really want me in Eruwa”. I did not finish with a first class but I am now five years old in ministry here in Eruwa.
Let me state this, God is not into gambling. He will not do for you what you must do for yourself. There is the place of grace but bagging a first class means I must be diligent as though I would not pray and pray as though I would not be diligent.
Friend, stop all these things of, “If I look out of my window at 2pm today and I see him, then I will know he is the one to marry” or “If she wears pink skirt today, then God has spoken to me”. Really?
Hold on! When your earthly father says “I will pay your fees tomorrow”. Do you go about saying “If my principal wears knickers today, then I know my father will pay”. That’s rubbish. You simply tell them in school that “Daddy said He will pay today”. That is all.
You get into this kind of mess when you do not spend time to hear the voice of the Father through the study of the Word. How will you know me when you have never seen me yet you do not spend time to read up what I wrote to you about who I am and how I do things?
The Word of God is the objective – every other thing, be it a dream, prophecy, a vision are all subjective. Do not try to explain the subjective outside of the objective. That is the easiest way to be swindled by self-appointed prophets over your life and manipulated by the devil.
If you study the Word of God, you will be surprised that you will get familiar with his voice and understand what he is saying.
A baby in the womb knows the father’s voice but it takes growth to understand what the father is saying.
If you do not know your father’s voice, it means you do not have a relationship with Him. If you do not understand Him, it means you need to grow.
I grow daily. I hear the father’s voice. Our relationship blossoms daily.
Lord, help me to daily recognize your voice amidst the turbulence in the world.
